ABE’S STORY

"I like being able to help feed our communities."

Abe Schmitt, owner and president of Mor Gro Farms, was introduced to farming at a young age. While his parents worked the fields, Abe could be found helping out wherever needed. With a strong interest in the growing process, it didn’t take long for Abe to get a real farming job of his own. At the ripe age of 14, he was hired as a general labourer at Mor Gro Farms. The rest, as they say, is history.

From picking and pruning to clipping and cropping (de-leafing, as it’s called), Abe worked long days and loved every minute. Not surprisingly, it didn’t take long for him to work his way up the ranks, becoming a supervisor just a few years after starting at Mor Gro. Then, at 20, he was presented with the opportunity he’d been waiting for – Head Grower. Taking his six years of hands-on farming experience, he jumped into his new position without hesitation.

Fast forward 17 years. With a wife, four kids, and plenty of great yields under his belt, Abe was presented with another golden opportunity – to own Mor Gro Farms. Like a bumper crop of produce, it was the result of hard work and dedication. Having spent his entire career at Mor Gro, he was rooted in the company and knew it like nobody else.

As new owner of Mor Gro, Abe wanted to plant the seeds for the next chapter of success. He decided it was time for a change so PrimeVine Produce was born. With premium-quality cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers as his starting crops, Abe is proud to introduce his new venture which is poised for continued growth.
